Water Lantern Festival is designed with the environment in mind. Unlike sky lantern festivals, our lanterns stay close and are easy to retrieve. After each event, our team collects every lantern and even cleans up surrounding trash to leave the space cleaner than we found it.
All lanterns are crafted from eco-friendly materials like rice paper and wood, and we reuse and recycle the LED candles to reduce waste and protect local ecosystems.

We’re committed to holding our events, come rain or shine. The safety and enjoyment of our participants are our top priorities, and we closely monitor weather conditions in collaboration with the city and venue. In the event of unsafe weather or if local authorities advise, we may need to postpone the event to a later date. If this happens, you’ll be promptly notified via email, and our social media pages and website will be updated accordingly.
The lantern launch window typically begins at sunset and will continue for 1-2 hours until everyone has had an opportunity to launch their lantern into the water.
You may arrive whenever you can. The event usually begins about three hours before sunset. We recommend arriving at least an hour before sunset to fully enjoy everything the festival has to offer! For detailed information, please refer to the official Water Lantern Festival Event Guide, which is emailed to all participants one week prior to the event.
Absolutely! Water Lantern Festival is a family-friendly event designed for guests of all ages. Children under 8 attend for free, and the peaceful, uplifting atmosphere makes it a perfect outing for families and groups. Whether you're coming with kids, parents, or friends, it's a night you'll cherish together.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks to the event. However, please note that for the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, this is an alcohol-free event. We will also have a selection of fantastic food trucks on-site, so be sure to come hungry and indulge in some delicious offerings!
